Abu Dhabi Airports, operator of the emirate’s five airports, released its passenger traffic results today. The number of guests using Abu Dhabi International, Al Ain International, Al Bateen Executive, Delma Island and Sir Bani Yas Island airports tripled from 5.26 million in 2021 to 15.9 million in 2022.

15.9 million passengers in 2022 at Abu Dhabi AirportsAir Traffic Movements (ATMs) at the five airports, which totaled 194,667 for the year, were also reported on the sidelines of the World Cargo Summit in Abu Dhabi. It is clear from these figures that Abu Dhabi airports continue to serve both tourism and business travelers. In addition, they are becoming a popular destination for regional and international travelers.

Additionally, 583,949 tonnes of air freight were handled across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain International Airports, as airlines rebalanced their fleets between passenger and cargo aircraft. Several factors contributed to this positive figure, including increased shipments of express, temperature-controlled, and pharmaceutical products.

In Q4 2022, Abu Dhabi International Airport welcomed nearly double the 2.43 million passengers it handled in Q4 2021 with 4.78 million passengers. A growing network of 28 airlines serves Abu Dhabi International Airport, which serves more than 100 destinations as of December 2022.
